Zermatt

We stayed 4 nights at the wonderful Hotel Testa Grigia in the heart of Zermatt. From our room on the upper floor, we had fantastic views of the Matterhorn. The balcony was quite comfortable with a retractable awning to provide shade from the sun, which we needed on a couple of very warm days. The pictures on this page show views from the hotel, walking trails nearby, and a particularly fascinating part of the Old Town with buldings dating back to the 16th century.

On the day we arrived, after taking a short hike we decided to head toward the shops by the train station. To our surprise, the Swiss Army Brass Band had set up in the square by the train station and began playing. They were fantastic! (I am a trumpet player). I captured 2 videos, linked below.

This was one trail to the Ricola Herb Garden.
We got tired and decided to try it the next day.

No backpack, no water, no food -- not good :)
